The Fairmont Kea Lani is a “suites” only hotel located in Wailea. If you’re traveling with kids, this is a great hotel in Wailea, Maui.
- Every room has a large bathroom, bedroom, and living room
- Breakfast is fantastic
- Has direct beach access, an adults only pool, and a water slide for the kiddies
How We Booked:
Every once in a while, the hotel website will run a special deal. After spending way too much time online looking at different travel sites (Costco, Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection, Hotels.com, etc.) the best place to this hotel (for when we went in September) was through AMEx Fine Hotel’s & Resorts (FHR).
I was able to book a standard room and received a two room upgrade to an Ocean View, breakfast for 2 daily (which includes tip), and $100 food and beverage credit. The real deal came in the form of a “fourth night free” which drove down the per night cost for the entire trip.
Overall for the 4 nights at the Fairmont, it was a little over $1,800 (not including tax).
Even the standard rooms are HUGE for Hawaiian standards. Each comes with a large bathroom with double sinks, bedroom, and nice size living room with sofa bed. I’ve stayed there a few times in the standard room with my family, and felt completely comfortable staying there.
Breakfast is fantastic. As I mentioned above, through FHR, we received breakfast for two everyday (the daily breakfast fee per person is $35). Everything was very tasty. Omelet bar? Check. Miso soup and rice? Yup. Pastries. Hmmm hm. The granola and muffins are also fantastic. The only thing they are missing is a fresh waffle maker, but that’s okay.
They’ve recently introduced this weird “laser” show to help distract the birds from coming after the food.
Very solid service, but nothing over the top. You aren’t getting personalized butler service, and the cleaning staff don’t know your name. However, everyone that you pass by in the hallway will greet you with a smile.
This is a great hotel for families. If it were just the two of us, I might check out the new Wailea Hotel or the Four Seasons. Next time we are in Hawaii we are checking out the newly renovated FS Lanai so more to come soon!
